Leroy Joseph Duplantis

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Leroy J. Duplantis, age 80, Thursday April 28, 2011 at 2:00pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr.Jude Thierryofficiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday April 27, 2011 from 2:00PM until 10:00PM with recitation of a Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Thursday April 28, 2011 from 9:00AM until service time.

A native of Delcambre and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Duplantis died Monday April 25, 2011 at 2:53PM in a local hospital. Mr. Duplantis was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 34 and Knights of Colombus Council-3425. Leroy enjoyed dancing and hunting rabbits; his most cherished times were those spent with his family.

Mr. Duplantis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laura Guidry Duplantis of New Iberia; daughters, Sharon Viator and husband Glenn and Nikki Ransonet and husband Dwight, all of New Iberia; son, Kirk W. Duplantis and wife Rozalyn of Denham Springs; brother, A. J. Duplantis of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Dolly Duplantis of New Iberia grandchildren, Brent Viator, Brooke Deshotel, Monica Rousso and Jenny Deshotel, all of New Iberia; Joshua, Keith, Kristian, Jacob, Luke, Stephen, Paul, Issac and Christopher Duplantis, all of Denham Springs; and Sabrina Ransonet of New Iberia; step-grandchildren, Charles Oubre, Leslie Crochet, Amy Thibdeaux and Cindy Frawley, all of New Iberia, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Duplantis was preceded in death by his son, Terry Duplantis, daughter, Phyllis Duplantis, granddaughter, Ashley Duplantis, great-grandson, Ashton Deshotel, parents, Alexie and Elodie LeBlanc Duplantis, brothers, Ledier, Camille, Junius, Dennis, Daniel, John, Eules and Eudes Duplantis, sisters, Onelia Segura, Eula Labit, Enez Duplantis, Jane Sherman, Edith Duplantis and Lillian Duplantis.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Duplantis, Keith Duplantis, Glenn Viator, Dwight Ransonet, Brent Viator and Charles Oubre.

Honorary pallbearer will be A. J. Duplantis.
