Beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend
New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Rita Ann Rabalais, age 72, Friday May 27, 2011 at 12:30pm at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday May 26, 2011 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume Friday May 27, 2011 from 9:00am until service time.
A native of Jeanerette, longtime resident of Terrytown, LA and most recently a resident of Carriere, MS; Ms. Rabalais died Sunday May 22, 2011 at 1:00pm at Highland Community Hospital in Picayune, MS. Ms. Rabalais was a dietician in the New Orleans area for many years; after her retirement she enjoyed working with ceramics and stained glass, sewing, cooking, playing bingo, and trips to the casinos.
Ms. Rabalais is survived by her son, Kevin Rabalais of Carriere, MS; her sisters, Nedra Legnon and Roberta Dore and husband Darryl, all of New Iberia; her brother, Hardy Hebert of Franklin; her godchild, Olga Ochoa of Fairfield, CA; her beloved nieces, Sharrel Lorenzo and husband Frank of New Orleans and Lana Guilliot of Crowley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ms. Rabalais was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Q. Toney; second husband, Bill Woolfolk; parents, Kearney Rabalais and Antoinette Marie Migues Rabalais; sister, Doris Derouen; nephew, Henry Legnon; niece, Andrea Carlisle; brother-in-law, Elton Legnon; and sister-in-law, Loretta Hebert.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hardy Guilliot, Elridge Derouen, Frank Lorenzo Jr., Francis Derouen, Tony Norris, and Malcolm Derouen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Derouen and Frankie Lorenzo III.
