Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana, to celebrate the life of Gwendolyn LeBlanc Vice, age 73, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her residence. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 4:30PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM in the funeral home and will resume Friday, May 6, at 8:00AM until time of services. The mass will be conducted by Father Gayle Nunez. Mrs. Tammy Maturin of Maurice will be providing the music for the Mass. Interment will follow services in the church cemetery. Gwen was born on August 1, 1937, to Dora Nunez LeBlanc and Harris Paul LeBlanc, in the same house in which she passed away. She graduated from and later taught at Erath High School. Her favorite things in life were playing cards with her friends, drinking coffee in the afternoon with the ladies , attending school and sporting events for her grandchildren, dancing to and listening to good music, and of course, bossing everyone around. She was so fun to be with and will be missed every day! Gwen is survived by her four children, Denise Nugent and husband Keith, of Maurice, Jackie Abshire and husband Oscar, of Meaux, Martin Vice and wife Cathy, of Winter Springs, Florida, and Jules Vice and wife Cyndi, of Winnebago, Illinois. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren who brought her much joy " Simone Nugent, Brittany Andrews, Lane Andrews, Evan Andrews, Barrett Nugent, Olivia Nugent, Kimberly Andrews, Trevor Vice, Bailey Vice, Gavin Vice, and Sam Vice, and her sister Julia Bryan and her husband Tommy. Friends were a huge part of Gwens life and she had lots of them. Three special ones were with her until the end " Judy Broussard, Sable Hidalgo, and Rable Girouard. A few sitters, and especially Pam Hernandez, provided invaluable care to Gwen over the last ten months. She and her family were blessed to be on the receiving end of these ladies love and concern. Pallbearers for the services will be her sons, grandsons, and sons-in-law: Martin Vice, Jules Vice, Oscar Abshire, Keith Nugent, Lane Andrews, Evan Andrews, and Barrett Nugent. Honorary pallbearers will be her youngest grandsons Trevor, Bailey, Gavin and Sam. At Gwens request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
