Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Carmelita Peters, 70, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 8:00Am until the time of the service with a recitation of the rosary at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. A Native and lifelong resident of Abbeville Ms. Peters died at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at a Lafayette Hospital. Carmelita was known for her enjoyment of music, dancing, and watching TV. She is survived by a brother, Hamilton Peters and his wife Foster of Abbeville; three sisters, Audrey Saddler of Abbeville, Mary Mae Campbell of Houston, TX, and Ledia Chandler of Abbeville; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Emelda Davenport Peters; two brothers, Norris Peters, Jr., and Bervick Peters; and a sister, Josephine Campbell. Member of her family and friend will be serving as pallbearers. David Funeral Home of Abbeville at 2600 Charity St. (337)893-3777 will be handling the arrangements.
