Leon P. Lyons, Jr.

Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Leon P. Picky Lyons, Jr., 63, on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 1:30 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 10:00 AM until services. Masonic Rites will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM by the Jeanerette lodge #255 and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 10:30 AM.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Lyons passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 8:30 AM in a New Iberia hospital. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era. He was a welder at Honiron and a Mason and member of the Jeanerette lodge #255. He loved fishing, dancing and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol Ewing Lyons of Jeanerette; his daughter, Jennifer Lyons Derouen of New Iberia; his grandsons, Blake Braud and Triston Derouen both of New Iberia; his ½ brothers, Rodney Lyons, Tommy Lyons, Andy Lyons and Christopher Sherville and his ½ sisters, Lynda Lyons, Laura Lyons and Christine Sherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Paul Lyons, Sr. and Joyce Migues Lyons Sherville and a ½ brother, Bradley Sherville.

Pallbearers will be Butch Bourgeois, Bobby Schexnayder, Brian Schexnayder, Blake Braud, Kurt Landry and Aaron Champagne.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Ewing and David Genest.
