Abbeville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Melba Bertrand Ortamond, 81, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Rev. Austin Leger officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 8:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will follow services at St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville. A native and lifelong resident of Abbeville Mrs. Ortamond passed away at 10:45 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Lafayette General Hospital. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and needlework and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Delores Gondran and her husband Victor of Abbeville; four sons, Donald Ortamond and his wife Jana of Rockwall, TX, Jimmy Ortamond of Austin, TX, William Paul Ortamond and his wife Kim of 29 Palms, CA and Kenneth Ortamond and his wife Aimee of Santa Fe, TX; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Ortamond of Abbeville and one brother, Dudley Bertrand of Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Ortamond; parents, Dema and Elia Gisclair Bertrand; five sisters and three brothers. Serving as pallbearers will be Victor Gondran, Donald Ortamond, Jimmy Ortamond, William Ortamond, Kenneth Ortamond, Clayton Ortamond and Jesse Ortamond. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dale Nelson, Diana Ortamond, Rhea Ortamond, Tiffany Ortamond, Rene Ortamond, Ashley Ortamond, Kate Ortamond and Kimberly Clulee.
