Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Bert Garron Delaune Jr., Age 84, at 10:00AM Tuesday July 26, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday July 25, 2011 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00AM until service time. Military graveside rites will be conducted the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A native of Norco and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Delaune died Saturday July 23, 2011 at 3:35AM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He retired from Morton Salt Company after 35 years of service. Mr. Delaune enjoyed fishing, football, baseball, gardening, camping and being with his family. Survivors include five daughters, Darlene Sonnier and husband Earl, Elaine Sun and husband Tai and Hollis Derouen and husband Antoine, Jr all of New Iberia, Donna Delaune, of Jeanerette, and Kristy Regira and husband Kevin of Port Allen; two sons, Gary Delaune and wife Andrea of New Iberia and Brett Delaune and wife Tina, of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Sonnier, Sara Duplantis, Emily Sun, Katie Delaune, Gina Green, Garth Gunter, Lindsay and Allison Bodin and Catherine and Christian Derouen; seven great-grandchildren, Daija Green, Aidan Derouen, Tobie Sonnier, Ariana Green, Jacob and Dylan Duplantis and Loren Sonnier; two sisters, Becky Guidry of Montegut and Glenda Brignac of St. Amant; one step sister, Alice Sedatol Broussard of Prairieville and a sister in law, Jo Ann Delaune of St. Amant He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Landry Delaune; parents, Bert G. Delaune Sr. and Josephine Haydel Delaune; his stepmother, Edna Sedatol; two grandchildren, Wesley C. Sun and Bart Gunter; one brother, George Delaune and two sisters, Addie Mae Wilson and Bobbie Gautreaux. Pallbearers will be family and friends. David Funeral Home, 400 Provost St. Jeanerette, La.
