Broussard- Funeral Services for Wilbert Albert Romero, 74, will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, August 01, 2011 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Deacon Cody Miller officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 10:00AM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00PM and will resume at 8:00AM on Monday, August 1, 2011 until just prior to service time. Entombment will follow services at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in Coteau, LA. A native and life long resident of Coteau Mr. Romero passed away at 11:00PM on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his residence. Albert enjoyed playing cards, making a block and spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Sybile L. Romero of Coteau; children, Marcia Granger and her husband Tex of New Iberia, Becky Romero and her husband Willie, Kirk Romero and his wife Tina, Kendall Romero, and Jenny Handschin and her husband Jason all of Coteau; grandchildren, Dawn Trahan, Jason Granger, Jared Granger, Jacob Granger, Sarah Granger, Rachel Allen, Monica Allen, Steven Allen, Joey Myers, Jennifer Myers, Amber Romero, Katlyn DeRouen and Keegan Handschin; great-grandchildren, Ryan Trahan, Kristen Trahan, Harley Granger, Austin Granger, Taylor Granger and Tee-Croppo II ; sisters, Ruby Duck and her husband Robert of Abbeville, Susie Romero of Coteau and one brother, Keith Romero and his wife Tammy also of Coteau. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Louise R. Romero; brothers, Carlton, Curley and Harris Romero; niece Tonia Racca and great-nephew Andre Racca. Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Romero, Scot Romero, Kevin Duck, Harris Romero, Jr., Joey Myers, Jared Granger, Steven Allen and Jacob Granger. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Romero. The family would like to offer a very special heartfelt thank you to Dina Bacon, Director and Nurse for Hospice Compassus and Karen Smothers and the entire staff of Hospice Compassus as well as Machico and Dr. Kaseb with M.D. Anderson Hospital.
