Arthur Lee Verret

Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Arthur Lee Verret Sr. Age 78, at 10:00AM Thursday September 22, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday September 21, 2011 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. An honorary procession will be held going into church by employees with the City of Jeanerette. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Verret died Sunday September 18, 2011 at 9:22AM at Iberia Medical Center. Mr. Verret served as Mayor of City of Jeanerette for 24 years. He was also an alderman for the city for 4 years. He retired from Teche Electric Cooperative as General Manager/Executive Director after 42 years of service. Mr. Verret also enjoyed going to the camp and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Johnson Verret of Jeanerette, children, Artie Verret of New Iberia, Liz Fielding LaCour and husband DeWayne of Lafayette, Belinda Boudreaux and husband Kirk of New Iberia and a step-son, David James of Charenton, grandchildren, Beau Boudreaux, Melanie B. Bergeron, Raven, Chelsea, Ricky and Brandon Fielding, Jesse LaCour, Jamie Verret and Jeremy James, great grandchildren, Chloe Fielding, Makynlee Boudreaux and Dylan and Ethan Bergeron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Euljy and Masay Migues Verret, 5 brothers, Huey Paul U.P , Drolean, Euljy Tukso , Woodrow and Alvin Te Nu Verret and 4 sisters, Nileas V. Migues, Ruth V. Desormeaux, Margaret V. Breaux and Laura Mae V. Bourque. Pallbearers will be Artie Verret, Kirk Boudreaux, DeWayne LaCour, Ronnie Desormeaux, Glenn Buteaux and James Bergeron III. David Funeral Home, 400 Provost St. Jeanerette, La. (337)276-5151 is in charge of arrangements.
