Mavis Desormeaux Hulin

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Walter Hulin, Jr., the former, Mavis Desormeaux, age 79, Friday September 2, 2011 at 11:00AM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday September 1, 2011 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Friday September 2, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of Erath and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Hulin died Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 3:03PM at her residence. Mrs. Hulin was the owner and operator of Hulin Metals. Her hobbies included playing video poker, manicuring her lawn and gardening, cooking for family gatherings and most of all playing golf. She was a member of Tri Parish Golf and Country Club, her proudest moment on the golf course was when she shot a Hole-In-One at Brendon Golf and Country Club on June 15, 1988. Mrs. Mavis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was passionate and took great pride in caring for her family and these moments were her most cherished.

Mrs. Hulin is survived by her sons, Mark Hulin and wife Sherdell, Ricky Hulin and wife Sandra, Keith Hulin and wife Lisa, all of New Iberia; Glenn Hulin and wife Penny of Zachary and Miles Hulin and wife Dana of Kaplan; daughters, Jenny Street and Julie Hulin, both of New Iberia; sisters, Adley Touchet of Abbeville; Lilly Comeaux and husband Lloyd of Erath; Dossie Darby and husband Terrell and Ella Mae-Mae Freyou, all of New Iberia; brothers, Curley Desormeaux of Myrtle Beach, SC and David Desormeaux and wife Nedral of New Iberia; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Hulin was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years , Walter Hulin, Jr., whom she will meet on the golf course green;parents, Ferdenance and Sedia Dore Desormeaux, sisters, Effie Guidry, Wilda Hebert, Sadie Smith, Alma Dugas and Lillian Desormeaux, brothers, Alvin T-Boy Desormeaux and Jack Desormeaux.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Mice Boutte, Brock Romero, Samuel Moy Hernandez, Jr., Keith T.K. Hulin, Brody Romero, Lee Hulin, Jeffrey Hulin and Rick Hernandez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Martin, Nicholas Hulin, Blake Romero, Doug Close,Braxton Hulin, Rylee Maturin, Lil Zake, Evan Hernandez and Joseph Jo-Jo Babin.
