New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Winson Blaize Richard, Age 86, at 10:00AM Monday August 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday August 7, 2011 from 2:00PM until 8:30PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time. The VFW Post 1982 will have a ritual service at 7:00PM Sunday after the Rosary. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 1982 Honor Guard. A native of Duson and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Richard died Friday August 5, 2011 at 7:10AM in a local hospital. Mr. Richard worked for Orkin pest control for 37 years. He also worked alongside his son-in-law Jeff Jolet at Jeffs Upholstery for 10 years. He was a member and past president of the Woodmen of the World, past post commander of the VFW Post 1982 and the Lydia American Legion. He was an usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, a Church he truly loved. Mr. Winson was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He was passionate about the American Flag and was instrumental in distributing flags to schools, hospitals and other organizations. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and bringing his wife to bingo on Sundays. The family would especially like to thank his caregivers, Marci and Precious for the loving care given to Mr. Richard. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Comeaux Richard of New Iberia, daughter, Sharon R. Jolet and husband Jeff of New Iberia, step son, Ken Quebedeaux and wife Barbara of Lafayette, sister, Earline R. Ransonet and husband Mutchie of Loreauville, grandchildren, Jill Jolet Guilbeau of New Iberia, Kelli Jolet Peltier and husband Nick of New Iberia, Laci Jolet of Thailand, Kayla Crouch and husband Jesse of Lafayette and Karen Quebedeaux of Baton Rouge, great grandchildren, Baylon Prioux of New Iberia, Jackson and Brooklyn Crouch both of Lafayette and one on the way. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Richard, parents, Ludovic and Orelia Cormier Richard, a great grandchild, Madison Elizabeth Jolet, a brother, Ashton Richard and a sister Masil Boudreaux. Pallbearers will be Jeff Jolet, Ken Quebedeaux, Calvin Begnaud, Jill Guilbeau, Kayla Crouch and Keith Begnaud. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelli Peltier, Laci Jolet, Chuckie Ransonet and Voorhies and Danny Begnaud. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. New Iberia, La.
