Abbeville - Funeral Services for Mr. Theo Gerald Labit, 71, will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Abbeville with Rev. Scott Desormeaux officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 beginning at 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 8:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Mr. Labit was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana, he was most recently a resident of Baytown, Texas. Mr. Labit passed away at 12:48 am, Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the home of Dane and Shannon Motty surrounded by his children who loved him dearly. Mr. Labit was formerly married to Shirley Courville Labit, whom with he had 8 children, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Labit treasured each and every moment he had with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Labit retired approximately 2 years ago as a consultant with Lyondell-Basell Industries. Mr. Labit loved to travel, dance and spend time with family and friends. Our father was a warm and very dear man who had a heart for everyone in need. He will be loved and missed dearly by his family and friends. Our father will be missed by many! He is survived by his 8 children, Cindy D. Labit of Abbeville, Greg M. Labit of Duson, Lisa L. Broussard of Henry, Patti Labit of Abbeville, Gerald J. Labit of Alexandria, Tammie L. Durke of Abbeville, Kelly L. Duhon of Youngsville, and Shannon L. Motty of Abbeville, and his sister Paulette L. Albarado of Abbeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo Labit and Alice Schexnaider Labit, his oldest brother, Roland Labit and his older sister Frankie L. LaCombe. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Clay Durke. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeremiah Broussard, Theo Labit, Payten Durke, Joshua Labit, Drake Duhon, Slayte Nugier and Nick Nugier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin L. Delcambre, Louis Hebert and Clay Durke may he rest in peace. Words and thoughts on his behalf will be given by close friends and former co-workers, Bill Rose of Texas and Ross McCormick of Texas.
