New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Francis E. Darby, 89, on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Parlor with Brother Bart Boyer officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Darby died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 9:30 AM in a New Iberia hospital. He was a retired carpenter. He loved camping, gardening, was an excellent story teller, an LSU Football Fan and one of Jehovahs Witnesses for over 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Air Borne Division of the U. S. Air Force. He is survived by his sons, Rodney Darby, Carroll Darby, Sr. and his wife Shirley all of New Iberia and Michael Darby of Pineville; his daughters, Frankie Darby Hewitt and her husband Jim of Franklin, Peggy Darby Cormier and her husband Edmond and Charlene Darby Johns and her husband Jaimie all of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Dean Darby and his wife Kay, Benita Berrara and her husband Felix, Bradly Darby and his wife Amanda, Jason Hewitt, Stevie Cormier, Andrea Cakalic and her husband Luke, Emily Cormier, Allison Johns, Lauren Arceneaux and her husband Brandon, Logan Johns all of New Iberia, Nicki Lovell and her husband Chad of Charenton and Jaymie Quintana and her husband Jason of Pineville; his great grandchildren, Danielle, Kirsten, Noah, Felicita, Reilly, Micah, Kayla, Madison, Kiya, Tristan, Kamryn and Alicia; his great great grandchild, Daxton; his brother, Jimmie W. Darby of New Iberia and his sisters, Mildred L. Darby of Opelousas and Helen Rita Darby of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his wife Andrea Bergeron Darby; his parents, St. Mark and Carrie Stephens Darby; his brothers, Monroe R. Darby, Jessie M. Darby, S.M. Pete Darby, Jr. and Clarence G. Darby and his sisters, Alice E. Darby, Nellie E. Darby, Louise E. Darby, Lizzie Bell Darby and Annie Lee Darby. Pallbearers will be Jason Hewitt, Dean Darby, Bradly Darby, Logan Johns, Tristan Lovell and Micah Hewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Darby, Sr., Michael Darby, Rodney Darby, Edmond Cormier and Jaimie Johns. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
