Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Janell Trahan Bettis, 55, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Bill Melancon officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 10:00AM until 10:00PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 8:00AM until just prior to service time. Interment will follow the services at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. A native of Abbeville and resident of Bloomingdale, Illinois, Mrs. Bettis passed away at 11:50AM on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Alexion Brothers Medical Center in Illinois. She was the owner and assistant trainer of thoroughbred racehorses. Her horses were like her children. Janell enjoyed having benefits to help others and was an avid Saints fan. She loved her husband, family and cats very much and was always doing things for others. The greatest moment she and her husband shared was winning the Breeders Cup with a horse named Black Tie Affair. Mrs. Bettis was a very special person who was loved by many and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Charles Bettis of Bloomingdale, Illinois; her mother and father, Girlie M. and Leroy Hebert of Abbeville; her sisters, Beverly Giardelli and companion Timothy Douet of Abbeville and Charlene T. Steen and husband Brad of Erath; her step-brother, Tracey Hebert of Lafayette; 3 step-sisters, Wanda, Cindy and Della; 2 step-daughters, Ericka Tesfa and Renee Strong, both of Maryland; and 4 nephews, Clint Roy, Brody Trahan, Erick Lyons and Lenny Giardelli, Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Paul Trahan; her paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Fernest Trahan; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Eloi Hebert.
