Delos William Case

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Delos William Case, 91, on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Jude Thierry officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 26, 2011, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30 PM.

A native of Bayou Chene, LA, a resident of Jennings and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Case passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 8:11 PM. He was a retired Tool Pusher for Reading & Bates. He loved to serve others and showered them with love. He won several ribbons from the Azalea Club flower shows during the Sugar Cane Festival.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He served 3 years, 4 months and 7 days in the U.S. Army during which he was in battle in Northern Solomons Luzon and received the following decorations and citations, American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorius Unit Award and World War 2 Victory Medal. He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of 1st Sergeant.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Melody Case Dupre and her husband Dean Anthony of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Kenneth Delos Dupre and his wife Christine, Joel Anthony Dupre all of New Iberia and Casey Dupre Lindsey and her husband Brian of Metairie; his great grandchildren, Tyler Delos Dupre of New Iberia and Brady Joseph Lindsey of Metairie; his sister-in-law, Betty Romero Comeaux of New Iberia; his nephew, Perry Verret and his wife Gina of Plaquemine and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Comeaux Case; his parents, Jerome and Mary Larson Case; his brothers, Richard, Marvin and Jerry Case; and his sisters, Ruth C. Granger, Rachel C. Verret, Mary C. Snellgrove, Inez C. Medlen and Bertha C. Mendoza.

In lieu of flowers, the family request pot plants to be planted in his garden that he lovingly tended for over 50 years in honor of him.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of their friends and family for their loving support, prayers and assistance and thanks to Father Jude Thierry.

Pallbearers will be Dean Dupre, Kenneth Dupre, Joel Dupre, Brian Lindsey, Ted Verret and Boyd Verret.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Perry Verret, Leroy Lecamus and Tyler Dupre.
