Erath " A Funeral Service of Christian Burial with full military honors, for Mr. Paul MC Trahan, will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, 2013 at 3:00PM, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Msgr. J. Douglas Courville officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home in Erath on Tuesday, January 29th, 2013 from 8:30AM until time of services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Mr. Trahan passed away peacefully Sunday morning around 11:30am at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Trahan was born in Erath on October 3rd, 1939. Mr. Trahan grew up in Erath and graduated as valedictorian of his class from Erath High School. He attended USL and attained his Bachelors degree in Lafayette. Mr. Trahan went on to McNeese University in Lake Charles to attain his Masters, +30, and Specialist Degrees. Mr. Trahan began his teaching career as a football coach at Comeaux high school in Lafayette, Louisiana. MC later transferred home to Erath high school where he began as a basketball coach, also teaching physics, biology, and physical education. In 1972 MC was appointed head football coach until 1973 when he became head principal for the three Erath schools. MC moved up to the central office in Vermilion Parish School Board in Abbeville where he served as Supervisor of Science, Math, and Physical Education for the parish until his retirement. MC served in the Louisiana National Guard and later became a member of the American Legion post #279 in Erath. MC married his best friend, first and only love the former Marilyn Theresa Melancon of Erath. The Trahans enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. They loved antique shopping, fishing, and vacationing with the family. MC loved hunting and was an avid fisherman. He loved taking the entire family on fishing expeditions where the competition and big one that got away stories were in abundance. In 1971, 1974, and 1976 MC celebrated what was probably his most treasured role that of being DADDY to the Trahans three children. Daddy you were a remarkable role model, husband, friend, and father. You exemplified in all of your roles exactly what was expected of you and far beyond any expectations we could have held before you. We will miss your contagious laugh, beautiful smile, expert wisdom, and undying -unconditional love. He is survived by: his best friend and loving wife of 44 years, Marilyn M. Trahan, His three children Paul F. Trahan of Erath, Mary Elise Trahan and her companion Jenny J. Ham of Erath, John Travis Trahan and his wife Melissa of Youngsville. Five grandchildren: Anthony Joseph Trahan and John-Paul Trahan of Youngsville, Garrett Paul Trahan and Trevor Dillon Trahan of Erath, and Blake Arceneaux of Abbeville. His brother Andrew Trahan and wife Mary of Erath, His sister Gloria Trahan Waits of Springhill, Sister in law Mary Pat Huval and her husband Oray Huval of Henry, Sister in law Celina Bergeron of Erath and her husband Guy Bergeron, Nephew Guy Toogie Bergeron and fianc Shalee, Nieces: Amy Wilson Stakes and husband Alan, Kelli Wilson Hollier and husband John Derek, Ahna Bergeron and special friend Josh Suire, Katie Huval, and Chelsey Huval. Great nephew John Ross Hollier, Great nieces: Karoline Hollier, Isabella Hollier, Gabriella Hollier, and Olivia Stakes. He was preceded in death by his birth parents Fernand Trahan and Amay Reaux Trahan, three sisters: Clara Belle Derouen, Lucy Mae T. Hebert, and Joyce Trahan, and one brother Clomere Pupa Trahan. His Mother Ethel F. Kendrick and Father Travis A. Kendrick, His Father in Law Iry J. Melancon, His Mother in Law Doris F. Melancon, Grandfather in Law Emory Doyle Flowers, Grandmother in Law Celine Dupre Flowers, Great Aunts Luce Dupre and Beatrice Dupre, and cousins Wallace Pap Dupre and Cecile Sis Dupre. Pallbearers will be: Paul F. Trahan, John Travis Trahan, Dillon Trahan, Dreycen Guy Bergeron, Dreycen Guy Toogie Bergeron II, and Oray Huval. Honorary Pallbearer: Andrew Trahan Readings by: John Edward Singletary and Mary Joyce Dugas Gift Bearers: MCs Godchildren: Celina Bergeron and Kelli Hollier Music provided by: Professional Soloist Will Green and accompanist The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and nurse Mrs. Joann Harrington for their professionalism, loving care, and heartfelt kindness.
