Mattie Overton Bonin

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 9:00 AM until services.

A native of Melville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Bonin died on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 5:45 AM in a New Iberia nursing home. She was a retired Home Health Aide. In her younger years she was loved to cook and entertain her family and was known as the Sugar Cane Festival Boat Parade Hostest with the Mostest for many years.

She is survived by her sons, Charles R. Bonin and his wife Ana, Wendell J. Bonin all of New Iberia and Sheldon J. Bonin of Metairie; her daughters, Judy Anderson and her husband Bob of Georgetown, KY, Vicki Bazer and her husband Kenny of New Iberia and Sylvia Valois and her husband Earl of New Orleans; her grandchildren, Renee Bonin Flitter and her husband Doug of Denham Springs, Michael Bonin and his wife Lisa of Chicago,Illinois, Robert Anderson and his wife Tuesday of Georgetown, KY, Karen Anderson Ouellettte and her husband David of Georgetown, KY and Christine Anderson Hopper and her husband Ryder of Georgetown, KY, Amanda Bazer and her fiance Stephen and Douglas Bazer both of New Iberia and her great grandchildren, Halle Grace Hadaway of New Iberia and Hudson Ouellette of Georgetown, KY. She was also survived by her special and caring friends, Betty Walters and Audrey Wallace both of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney J. Bonin; her parents, Charles P. and Orrie Blanche Coleman Overton; her sisters, Jennie O. Warden Jones, Orrie Elizabeth O. Baade and Blanche Overton Garlington and her brothers, Jessie Lee Overton, Davis Overton, Woodrow Overton, Charles Knox Overton, Wendell Overton, Tom Overton, Theron Coleman Overton and James Jim Overton.

Pallbearers will be Charles Bonin, Sheldon Bonin, Wendell Bonin, Bob Anderson, Kenny Bazer and Earl Valois.

Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Bazer and Robert Anderson.
