New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Velton E. Amy, the former Ruth Ella Darbonne, 75, on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier, LA with Father Darren Eldridge officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in New Iberia on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed in the funeral home at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. There will also be a visitation at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Hall in Chataignier from 12:00 PM until the time of services. A native of Eunice and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Amy died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 6:29 AM at her residence. Prior to retirement she was employed at Peoples National Bank and at ARC of Acadiana. She loved working in her yard and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Tanya Joubert of Eunice, Mark Amy and his wife Leslie, Troy Amy and his wife Keyna, Kayla Amy, Dana Amy and his wife Kim and Jason Amy and his wife Stacie all of New Iberia; her sisters, Maxie Zaunbrecher of Elton, Betty Brown of Eunice, Gloria Langley of Bazile and Sandra Rougeau of Eunice and her brothers, Wayne Darbonne and Steve Darbonne both of Eunice. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Velton E. Amy; her parents, Dewey and Laura Guillory Darbonne and her brother, Ray Darbonne. Pallbearers will be Nicholas, Trevor and Bo Amy, Jeremy Ortego, Wayne and Steve Darbonne. Honorary pallbearers will be her children Troy, Mark, Jason, Dana and Kayla Amy and Tanya Joubert. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
