Howard J. Broussard

Visitation will be on Friday, May 25, 2012, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed in the funeral home at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 8:00 AM until services.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Jefferson Island, Mr. Broussard died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 1:10 AM in a local hospital. He was a graduate of New Iberia High School and was an avid Boxer and was known by his fellow boxers as Caveman . He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was employed with Texaco for 36 years and after retirement he worked with the Iberia Parish Sheriff Department for 6 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela B. Babineaux and her husband Brad of New Iberia; his son, Karl Philip Broussard and his wife Tina of New Iberia; his sister, Pat Melancon and her husband Johnny of Lafayette; his granddaughters, Kesla R. Broussard, Demi Kay Broussard and Addison Katherine Babineaux all of New Iberia; his step-grandson, Justin Corkran of Lafayette; his special daughter, Terri Dupuy and her husband Kevin of Baton Rouge; his nephews, Rickey Upton and his wife Julane of Abbeville, Gene Upton and his wife Joni of Baton Rouge and Guy Dugas, Sr. and his wife Regina of New Iberia; his nieces, Patrice Dugas of New Iberia and Gayle Upton Dore of Alvin, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marian LeMaire Broussard; his parents, Eglaude and Ida Broussard Broussard; his brothers, Earl Broussard andJ. V. Broussard and his sister, Helen B. Upton.

Pallbearers will be Brad K. Babineaux, Richard Ricky Upton, Richard "Lil Richard", Guy Dugas, Sr., David Boullion, Johnny Melancon and Guy Dugas, Jr..

Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Hall, Craig Hall, Huey Nora, Kevin Dupuy, Nookie Rouly and Shane Dore.

The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, the hospital staff at Iberia Medical Center and Doctor Jose Mata.
