Abbeville " A Memorial Service for Mrs. Ovey Trahan, Jr. the former Betty Kitchell, 78, will be held at a later date. Mrs. Trahan a native of DeQuincy and a lifelong resident of Buras until Hurricane Katrina at which time she became a resident of Abbeville died at 7:50AM on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She spent her life touching the lives of others as a teacher. She was know for her love for cooking and being around family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ovey Trahan, Jr. of Abbeville; two sons, Rickey Kitchell and his wife Alesia of Shreveport and Mark Trahan and his wife Darlyn of Buras; two daughters, Lisa Trahan and Wade of Buras and Melanie Reppel and her husband Scott of Abbeville; a brother, Sonny Kitchell; and six grandchildren, Brady Trahan, Ross Reppel, Sophie Reppel, Emma Trahan, John Mark Trahan, and Julia Trahan. She was preceded in death by her parents,James Edmon and Mildred Walkner Kitchell David Funeral Home of Abbeville at 2600 Charity St. (337)893-3777 will be handling the arrangements.
