New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. J.C. McDaniel, Jr., the former Joyce Touchet, age 77, Friday October 19, 2012 at 11:00AM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday October 18, 2012 at 12:00PM until 8:00PM with recitation of the Rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume Friday October 19, 2012 at 8:00AM until service time.
A native of Abbeville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. McDaniel passed away Tuesday October 16, 2012 at 3:30PM at her residence after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons disease. Joyce was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her husband was her best friend and the center of her life. Their love for one another was shared in many ways, especially in the joy they found in her paintings and his framing. Many of her paintings have been on exhibit at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Heymann Arts Center and on display throughout New Iberia. Joyce enjoyed teaching art to children and was a member of Bayou Art Gallery and LAcadian Art Guild.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, J.C. McDaniel, Jr. of New Iberia; her children, Joycelyn M. Peer and husband Michael of New Iberia; James McDaniel III and wife Jocelyn of San Antonio, TX and Jayne M. Stokes and husband Leif of New Iberia; sister, Brenda T. Pourciau of Lafayette; grandchildren, Lee M. Lancon and wife Mari of Keller, TX; Joel Burt of New Orleans, Aubrie and Alec McDaniel, both of San Antonio, TX; Josh Pellerin of New Iberia; Caleb Pellerin of Lafayette and Sammy Stokes of New Iberia and her great-grandchildren, Paige, Holden and Dax Lancon.
Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Nell Migues Touchet, her sister, Cindy T. Broussard and her great-grandchild, Britton Lancon.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh and Caleb Pellerin, Leif Stokes, Michael Peer, Lee Lancon and Joel Burt.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Dean Broussard.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers, especially NiNi for the love and compassion given during this time.
