Martha Gilmore Broussard

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Francis H. Broussard, Sr. the former, Martha Gilmore, age 88 Monday November 14, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday November 13, 2011 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM with recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume Monday November 14, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of Franklin and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard died Thursday November 10, 2011 at 9:10PM at a local hospital. Martha had a welcoming spirit and outgoing personality. She had a passion for creating handmade crafts and willingness to share crafts with others. Martha will be remembered for her perseverance, honesty and zest for life. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Broussard is survived by her sons, Glenn Broussard and wife Diana of New Iberia; Eric Broussard and wife Susan of Galena, MD; and Francis H. Broussard, Jr. and wife Dianne of New Iberia; daughters, Kathleen Jennings and husband Edward of Lexington, KY; Carolyn Broussard of New Iberia; and Molly Fitch and husband Jerome of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Alayne Strong and husband Eric, Bryan Jennings and wife Peggy, Kathryn Katie Phillips and husband Park, Michael Broussard and wife Hillary, Michelle Broussard,Matthew Fitch and wife Brittany, Zachary Fitch and wife Stephanie, Alex Broussard and Sarah Cherry and husband Michael and 5 great-grandchildren, Eli, Aslan, Ayla, Nathan and Ella.

Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her husband Francis H. Broussard, Sr., parents, Lawrence A. Gilmore and Alphonsine Landry Gilmore, and one brother, Lawrence M. Gilmore.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kathleen Jennings, Glenn Broussard, Eric Broussard, Molly Fitch, Carolyn Broussard and Francis Broussard, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Broussards dear friends of the Crazy Quilting Club.
