Stella Breaux Broussard

Visitation will be on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 PM.

A native of Loreauville, a former resident of New Iberia and a resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Broussard passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 4:30 AM in an Abbeville nursing facility.

Stella was born on June 11, 1915 in Loreauville to Ferdinand Clet Breaux, Sr. and Dozia Gonsoulin Breaux. She was a resident of Iberia Parish for most of her life. As a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was always focused on helping her family. She was a woman of great faith and served as a Christian role model for all who knew her. She spent a great deal of her time helping others in need whether it was helping out at a nursing home, babysitting her grandchildren, washing and styling an elderly persons hair, or driving someone to church.

Prior to moving to Abbeville, she was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a volunteer worker at Heritage Manor North and Azalea Villa Nursing Homes and served as Lector at Azalea Villa.

She is survived by her sons, Kenwood Ken Broussard and his wife Mary of New Iberia and Elwood Woody Broussard and his wife Doris of Abbeville; her sister, Anite B. Gondron of Loreauville; her brothers, Lester Breaux of Port Arthur, TX and Ferdinand C. Breaux, Jr. and his wife Goldie of Loreauville; her grandchildren, Danny Broussard, Lonnie Broussard and his wife Allison all of Abbeville, Angie Broussard and her husband Jake of Lafayette, Donna Broussard of New Iberia and Lynn LeBlanc and her husband Bart of Lafayette; her great grandchildren, Grace Broussard of Abbeville and Evan Broussard of Lafayette and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phelias Broussard; her parents, Ferdinand Clet Breaux, Sr. and Dozia Gonsoulin Breaux; her daughter, Joycelyn B. Louviere; her brothers, Leonard Breaux, Felix Breaux and Bertin Breaux and her sisters, Jeanne B. Dugas, Etta B. Dugas and Lylia B. Boutte.
