Eve R. Miguez

August 11, 1916 — March 27, 2013

New Iberia " Mrs. Roland J. Miguez, the former Eve Rodriguez, passed away quietly at her home Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:45 AM after a long illness. She was 96 years old. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

A native of Raceland and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Miguez had many friends in the community. She was a devout parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church, serving as a lector and a catechism teacher, and singing in the church choir. She was an especially devoted member of the Lay Carmelites of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Community, and served as its secretary for many years. After her children were old enough, Eve followed her personal professional desire to work; first at Teche Wholesale and later at Union National Life Insurance, where she retired after more than 20 years of service.

She is survived by her children, Ann Miguez Segura and her husband Mark of New Iberia, John Miguez and his wife Betsy of Lafayette, Steven Miguez and his wife Glenda of Loreauville, Eugene Miguez and his wife Jennifer of St. Martinville, James Miguez of Lafayette and Kenneth Miguez of New Iberia. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and3 great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Miguez; her parents, Avis Gustave and Josephine Theriot Rodriquez; her twin daughters, Lillie and Jane Miguez; her son, Bennett Miguez; her sisters, Eunice Arcement and Pearl Rodriguez and her brothers, Junius Rodriguez and Dewey Rodriguez.

Pallbearers will be John, Steven, Eugene, James and Kenneth Miguez and Mark Segura.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Heart of Hospice and its staff, all of whom provided Mrs. Miguez with excellent and empathetic medical care. An expression of special gratitude goes to her devoted sitters: Emma Jean Francis, Mary Cormier and Marie Lee; whose loving care made her last years the best they could be. Her son James also devoted himself to her care.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heart of Hospice.
