Thelma Arnaud Horton

Visitation will be on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 6:30 PM.

A native of Lake Arthur, resident of St. Martinville and a former resident of Coteau Holmes, Mrs. Horton passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 5:00 AM in a St. Martinville nursing facility. She was the owner and operator of Hortons Grocery Store in Bayou Benoit for over 30 years.

She is survived by her sons, Monroe Horton, Sr. and his wife Irene, Carroll Horton, Sr. and his wife Shelia, Johnny Horton, Sr. and his wife Sandy, Thomas Horton, Sr. and his wife Roxanne all of Coteau Holmes, Rufus Horton, Jr. and his wife Ruby of Seminole, AL and Russell Horton and his wife Rometa of New Iberia; her daughters, Charlene H. Richard and her husband John B. of Coteau Holmes and Yvonne H. LeBlanc and her husband Kenneth of Loreauville, her sisters, Lillian Louviere of St. Martinville and Louise Horton and her husband Sidney of Loreauville; 27 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she was married to for 40 years, Rufus Horton, Sr.; her parents, Robert and Bertha Robin Arnaud; her son, Gary Horton, Sr.; her daughter, Loretta Horton; her grandchildren, John Richard, Jr., Thomas Horton, Jr., Carroll Horton, Jr. and Melissa Horton and 2 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her sons, Monroe Horton, Sr., Carroll Horton, Sr., Johnny Horton, Sr., Thomas Horton, Sr., Rufus Horton, Jr. and Russell Horton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth LeBlanc and John B. Richard, Sr..
