Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Norman Joseph Ruiz, 90, on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Maurice Seneca officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery.

Visitation was on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 9:00 AM until
1:00 PM.

A native of Pierre Part and a resident of Charenton, Mr. Ruiz passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 4:00 PM at his residence. He was a retired commercial fisherman and also a School Bus Driver with the Iberia Parish School Board for 19 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was an outdoorsman, loved music and dancing. He was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Naquin Ruiz of Charenton; his daughter, Carmen R. Judice and her husband Thenus of Loreauville; his sister, Bessie Matherne of Charenton; his grandson, Robert Schexnayder, III of Charenton; his step-granddaughter, Amber Dressel and her husband Jeremy of New Iberia and his step-great grandchildren, Cullen Stansbury, Blake Dressel and Drake Dressel all of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Joseph and Angela Gauthreaux Ruiz; his sister, Emily Parlow and his brothers, Wilbert, Calvin and Russell Ruiz.

Pallbearers were Robert Schexnayder, Thenus Judice, Billy Duplechin, Cordell Ruiz, Morgan Parlow and Dale Langlinais.

Honorary pallbearers were Russell Ruiz, Jr. and Woodrow Ruiz.

David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost St. (337) 276-5151 is in charge of arrangements.
