Marie George

A native of New Orleans and resident of Erath, Mrs. George passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She loved being with her children and doing lots of activities with them, including seasonal scavenger hunts for every school holiday. Marie had a generous heart and cared for everyone who came into her home. She had an extended stray family and made sure everyones needs were met. She never met a stranger and enjoyed cooking, gardening and decorating for every holiday. Mrs. George had deep faith in God, loved family get-togethers and was a very strong woman. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Darren George of Erath; six children, Courtney Gauthreaux of New York City, Chelsea Gauthreaux , Michael George, Jasey Gauthreaux , Ariel Palombo and Canaan George, all of Erath; her brother, Eugene Rush of Erath; sisters-in-law, Joann Frederick and husband Kenneth and Lenore Baudoin, all of Maurice; brothers-in-law, Nick George of Abbeville and Kendall George of Lafayette; her nieces and godchildren, Summer and Makayla LaBruyere of Abbeville; and numerous other nieces, nephews, godchildren, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Smith; her mother, Vera Lee Rush; and her step-father, Eugene Rush, Sr.
