Loreauville " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Douglas Walet, the former Jeanette Broussard, 80, on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon James Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 7:00 AM until services and a rosary will be prayed by Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Daughters at 9:30 AM in the funeral home. A native of Catahoula and a resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Walet died on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 4:25 PM at her residence. She began her working career as a Beautician, was a bookkeeper at Iberia Sugar Co-op, a store clerk at McHugh Pharmacy in Loreauville and retired as a bookkeeper at Chase Bank. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, loved gardening and was a caregiver to her family members. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Douglas Walet of Loreauville; her siblings, Katsy Mouton of Lafayette, Halphen Buddy Broussard, Jr. and his wife Gladys, Benny Broussard and his wife Lou all of Catahoula, Gayle Bourque and her husband Ray of Breaux Bridge, Kenneth Broussard and his wife Delores of Cecilia, Louizette Lou Labbe and her husband Leon of Lafayette and Al Broussard and his wife Betty of Parks. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Halphen Broussard, Sr. and Elizabeth Elise Bienvenu Broussard; her nieces, Barbara LeBlanc, Monica LeBlanc and Eva Broussard and her nephews, Clint Robicheaux and Louis Labbe. Pallbearer will be her brothers, Buddy, Benny, Kenneth and Al Broussard, her brother-in-laws, Ray Bourque and Leon Labbe and her grand-nephew, Hunter Sy Arceneaux. The family would like to thank all her caregivers and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana.
