Mary Doucet Segura

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Pierre Segura, Jr., the former Mary Doucet, 86, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Greene officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.

A native of Kaplan and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Segura passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at 8:45 PM in a Welsh, LA nursing facility.

Mrs. Segura graduated from Kaplan High School in 1942, then met and married her husband and joined him as his spouse and mother to their children during his 23 year Air Force career which took them on assignment through the United States. Prior to her husbands death they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

She was a person of great devotion and service to her family and that trait she leaves behind for her children to emulate.

After settling in New Iberia she was employed by Sears, Vida Sugar Mill and worked for Wormsers for many years.

Mrs. Segura was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, spending time at the hunting camp, watching her grandchildren playing football and loved spending time at family events.

She is survived by her sons, Russell Segura of Scott, Michael Segura and his wife T. J. of Navarre, FL and Steven Segura and his wife Ann of Loreauville; her daughter, Peggy Babineaux and her husband Jimmy of Coteau; her sister, Elaine Landry of Crowley and her brothers, Charles Doucet of Kaplan and Judge Ned Edward Doucet, Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephania Segura, Russell Rusty Segura, Jr., Seth Segura, Shawn Segura, Jamie B. Williams and her husband Bray, Chad Segura and his wife Nicole, Dr. Jim Babineaux, Cory Segura and his wife Misty, Fran S. Caldwell and her husband Travis and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pierre Segura, Jr.; her parents, Ned Edward Doucet, Sr. and Zulma Clostio Doucet; her brothers, Earl, Elton and L. P. Doucet and her sisters, Lou Alice Hebert and Shirley Hudson.

Pallbearers will be Chad Segura, Cory Segura, Dr. Jim Babineaux, Rusty Segura, Shawn Segura and Seth Segura.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Doucet and Judge Ned Edward Doucet, Jr.
