New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Jesse Hughes, the former Verna Minnette LaBauve, age 99, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Eugene Tremie officiating, Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 PM. A native of Jeanerette, and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Hughes passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012, at 12:08 AM in a New Iberia assisted living facility. She is survived by her daughter, Verna H. Biggerstaff and her husband Clayton of New Iberia, grandchildren, Christopher M. Biggerstaff and his wife Kimberly of Lafayette, Heath J. Biggerstaff and his wife Tracy of Youngsville, Jessica B. Moody and her husband Brian of Broussard; great grandchildren, Anna-Claire Biggerstaff, Campbell M. Biggerstaff, Julia E. Biggerstaff all of Lafayette, Bella G. Biggerstaff of Youngsville and Kaylin E. Moody of Broussard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, Jesse Hughes; parents,Cesaire and Edith LeBlanc LaBauve; granddaughter, Jennifer E. Biggerstaff; brothers, Compton LaBauve, Sr., Howard LaBauve,Clegg LaBauve andCaesar LaBauve; and sisters, Rosie L.Holleman and Edith Duce L. Elias. Pallbearers will be, A.C. Elias, Ticky LaBauve, Christopher Biggerstaff, Heath Biggerstaff, Brian Moody and Compton Cookie LaBauve. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Holleman and Dr. Gerald Elias, Jr..
