Wilbert Vaughan

Abbeville- A brief Gathering of Immediate Family Members in Memory of Wilbert Joseph Vaughan, 73, was held at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2012 at David Funeral Home of Abbeville. Mr. Vaughan passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Pelican Point Nursing Home in Maurice, LA. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum in Erath at a later date. A native of Pecan Island and a longtime resident of Erath, Wilbert was a Diesel Engineer on commercial tugboats and was also employed by Mobil Oil Company as a Production Operator offshore with over 20 years of service at the time of his retirement. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and friend to many and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Vaughan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Earline Trahan Vaughan of Erath, LA; daughter, Annette V. Poirrier and her fiance, Jim Mauritcen of Erath, LA; son, Brent Vaughan and his wife, Jessica of Abbeville, LA; daughter, Jennifer V. Hebert of Broussard, LA; former son in-law, Greg P. Hebert; sisters, Viva Vaughan of Henry, LA and Isabelle Vaughan of Kaplan, LA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Vaughan and Emma Miller Vaughan and one brother, Elda Vaughan.
