Anna Lee Mestayer Clark

May 6, 1922 — January 26, 2012

Anna Lee passed away Jan 26, 2012 at 7:40p.m. at Marin General Hospital, California. She was 89 years old.

The oldest of six children, she grew up in Loreauville, LA. Happily secure amidst her French family and an avid reader, Anna Lee sought adventures in the larger world. So, in 1942 she enlisted in the Women?s Army Corps to serve her country during World War II.

While serving in Fort Knox, KY, she met and married her husband, Bradley K. Clark with whom she had four children. They lived in many different states in the U.S. and Europe. Every summer Anna Lee brought her children to Loreauville to know their relatives and cultural history. In 1968, Anna Lee returned to Cupertino, CA to finish raising her two youngest sons. She worked for Bank of America for 20 years until she retired. Anna Lee later moved to Stockton, CA where she enjoyed helping her granddaughters grow up. A woman of many talents, Anna Lee was a talented seamstress, knitter, and a great cook. She often said that her favorite job in life was raising her four children.

In 2007, she moved to Mill Valley, CA to be near her youngest daughter and son-in-law. She lived happily at the Redwoods retirement community with her white poodle, Toulouse. During her last five years, she made three trips to see her family in Loreauville, bringing to all, many happy memories. She was well-known for her infectious laughter and smile.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Sue Clark, Stockton,CA , Tana Marie Clark of Mill Valley, CA, son-in-law John R. Reese of Mill Valley, CA, granddaughters Carlin G. Rooke, of Los Angeles, CA , Jaime A. Rooke of Boston, MA, sister Dorothy Graves of New Orleans, LA, brothers Earl Mestayer, Olan Mestayer of Loreauville, LA and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Annette Mestayer, brothers Elmo and Francis Mestayer and sons Drew Stephen Clark and Murray James Clark.

Mass will be at St. Joseph?s Church, Loreauville, LA Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

Reception at 113 Walter St, Loreauville immediately following services. All are welcome.

Celebration service to be arranged at The Redwoods, Mill Valley in March, 2012.
