She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society, and a charter member, since 1946, of the Catholic Daughters Our Lady of Good Counsel.
She loved her birthplace, the Village of Loreauville, which she fondly referred to as a suburb of New Iberia in hopes that Loreauville would prosper but never lose its small town appeal. She was an educator, not only to her family, but hundreds of youth in Loreauville. As many past employees will remember, they had a daily lesson on English grammar while raking leaves and washing cars. As the church bells rang for the Angelus, we are fondly reminded of her devotion to prayer. One of her favorite sayings was, Offer it up !
She was born and worked in her parents general merchandise store and later owned and operated a business with her husband on the opposite corner. She loved to say she spend her whole life on these four corners of Main Street. Miss Anna Mae was a self-taught florist and enjoyed cultivating her own camellias, azaleas, and seasonal plants. She is fondly remembered for decorating for functions held at St. Theresas Hall. Many will remember her acknowledgment for their birthday. She was a life-long historian with daily journaling beginning at age 12 and continuing until age 85. She was hired by the Daily Iberian in her late teens to document the social news in Loreauville.
When we see flowers, we will think of her. When we see picture-taking, we will think of her. Festivals and parades will remind us of her and Daddys love of travel. She loved family dinners and gatherings at her home and was most happy when the whole family was present.
The family would like to acknowledge Genevieve Crochet, her best friend, classmate, and confidante.
