Claire Landry Garcia

Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Royal Norton Garcia, the former Claire Margaret Landry, 86, on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John Masuoleum.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 PM.

A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Garcia died at 11:55 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia where she resided for the past year.

Mrs. Garcia was employed for many years, including as store manager at her fathers store, Charles Landry General Merchandising on Pellerin Street; clerk at Weills Department Store; and teller at Iberia Bank, Jeanerette Branch, from which she retired.

She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, The Rosary Group, Legion of Mary, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary and St. Joseph Home and School Association for many years before her illness.

She is survived by her two children, Gerard and Donovan Garcia of Jeanerette; their wives, Susan and Gail Garcia; five grandchildren, Brandon Garcia of Minneapolis; Raymond Garcia of Hammond, Caroline Garcia Ziegler of Philadelphia; Virginia Garcia Kern of Cade and Benjamin Garcia of Lafayette. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Norton Garcia; her parents, Charles J. and Claire Escagne Landry and three brothers, Charles Justin Landry, Winnie James Landry and Kerry Walters Landry.

Pallbearers will be Michael Landry, Dale Landry, Raymond Garcia, Benjamin Garcia, Donovan Garcia, Gerard Garcia and Lance Kern.
