The funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Abbeville with Pastor Pres Riley officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 12:00PM until 8:00PM and Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 9:00AM until 1:00PM. Please join us in remembrance and celebration of his life.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted by Jones Funeral Home in Crossett, AR the following day.
He was raised in Basile, LA and has been a resident of Abbeville, LA living with his family for the past 40 years. He was a dedicated father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by many friends and family members. He inspired others through a love of work, nature, and outdoor living. He was an avid fisherman and hunter in South Louisiana. He retired with ARCO Oil and Gas after 20 years of service and later worked his last several years at Vermilion Gator Farms.
He is survived by sisters, Carol Fruge Hale of Lafayette and Cherryle Fruge of Moss Bluff; daughters, Kim Redwing and son-in-law Clint Redwing of Lafayette and Phyllis Fruge of Duson; son, Brendan and daughter-in-law Maurie of Spring, TX; and six grandchildren, Cody, Tanner, Courtlyn, Ben, Brenna and Jackson.
He was preceded in death by Sandra Fruge, his wife of 44 years; and his parents, Wallace and Ruby Manuel Fruge.
Pallbearers will be Brendan Fruge, Clint Redwing, Cody Carpenter, Tanner Carpenter, Leonard Gabby Mayard and Nick Mouton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. and Mrs. Phil Fruges names to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
