Broussard " Funeral services for Robert L. Young, 78, will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Broussard. Fr. Bill Ruskoski will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, October 15, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services. A native of Centerville, La. and resident of Broussard, Mr. Young passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 at his residence in Broussard. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved spending time with family and friends. Mr. Young was a professor of electrical engineering, having taught at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, Nichols State University in Thibodeaux, La., and USL, now known as UL Lafayette. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church having served as a Eucharist Minister, a lector, a Confirmation teacher and a member of the Parish Council. Truly, he was a farmer at heart. Survivors include his wife Elaine Luke Young of Broussard; his children Kent and his wife Mary Norris Young of Sunset; Eva Young of Lafayette; Mary Beth Groze and her husband Steve of Baton Rouge; Helen St. Amand and her husband Chris of Broussard; Mike and his wife Karen Trahan Young of Youngsville; and Paul and his wife Michele Gillaspie Young of Lafayette; three brothers Ray Young of Centerville, La.; Bill Young of Bryant, Tx; and Karl Young of Franklin, La. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ione Young. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Andrew St. Amand, Nathan St. Amand, Phillip Young, Stuart Young, Brett Young, Luke Young, and Grant Young. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Riley Young, Keith St. Amand, and Kaleb Young. Giftbearers will be Mr. Young's granddaughters Clair St. Amand Champagne, Valerie Groze, Alaina Young, and Grace Young.
