Henry- A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Ray Dugas,73, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday February 28, 2013 at St. John Catholic Church in Henry, LA. Celebrant for the Mass will be Rev. Emmanuel Manny Fernandez, Pastor of St. John Catholic Church, with Rev. Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, LA as Con-Celebrant. Mr. Dugas passed away suddenly on Monday February 25, 2013 at Abbeville General Hospital. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of ABBEVILLE, LA beginning Wednesday February 27, 2013 at 4:00PM with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM, until 9:00PM and will resume Thursday February 28, 2013 at 8:00AM until just prior to services. Interment will follow the church service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Erath, LA. Mr. Dugas, was the owner and operator of Dons Boat Landing in Boston, LA , well known as the Home of the World Famous Bloody Mary , for 43 years. After retiring, Don worked for the Vermilion Parish Police Jury for five years, and was also a cattleman, cattle farmer and a school bus driver who loved his garden and his cattle. Known affectionately as Poppa Don by family and friends he was also a Member of the Vermilion Cattlemans Association, Henry Volunteer Fire Department and St. John Catholic Church in Henry, LA where he served as an Usher. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Nelies LeBlanc Dugas; sons, Clint Dugas and his wife Tessie, Ken Dugas and his wife Bernardine; grandchildren, Dustin Dugas, Cody Dugas and his special friend Kelsey Morvant all of Henry, LA, Megan Toups and her husband Justin of Erath, LA , Nicole Dugas and her fiance Kyle Benefiel and Beau Dugas all of Henry, LA; great grandchild Colt Toups of Erath, LA; godchildren, Tommy Picard of Abbeville, LA, Rexene Broussard of Milton, LA and George Menard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Lucille Landry Dugas; sister Earline Carter and brother-in-law Ralph Carter. Pallbearers will be Dustin Dugas, Cody Dugas, Beau Dugas, , Justin Toups, Tommy Picard, Allan Carter.
