A native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Abbeville Mr. Stevens died at 9:30PM on Monday, December 24, 2012 at his residence. He proudly served his country in the US Navy; was a member of the American Legion; owned and operated David Stevens Plumbing and heating; and enjoyed Fishing and Hunting. He was also known for founding the Community Chapel Church in Abbeville.
He is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Parkin and her husband Jack of Little Elm, TX and Mildred Meaux and her husband Clarence of LeRoy; a daughter in law, Cynthia D. Stevens of Abbeville; a step son, Raymond Guidry of Palacios, TX; three step daughters, Janie Santiny of Sulphur, Geneva Provost of Sulphur, and Glenda Doucette of Palestine, TX; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Mae Trahan Stevens; his parents, Alexander and Hortoise Trahan Stevens; a son, John Carrol Ace Stevens; five brothers, Alex Stevens, Artisille Stevens, Gilbert Stevens, Albert Stevens, and Robert Stevens; and three sisters, Loadia Bradshear, Constance Simon, and Ozite Mire.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of his family and friends.
