Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Emma Poochie Ziegler Fruge, 76, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, LA with Rev. Bill Ruskoski as Celebrant. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 10:00AM until 9:00PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM, and will resume Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 8:00AM until just prior to service time. Entombment will follow the church services and will be held in Sacred Heart of Jesus Mausoleum in Broussard, LA. Mrs. Fruge passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Emma was born November 26, 1935 in Crowley, LA. She graduated from Crowley High School in 1953 and Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1957. She married Donald Louis Fruge in 1957 and moved to Patterson, LA in 1959. She and her family ultimately made their home in Lafayette, LA in 1975. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, LA and also a member of the St. Mary and Lafayette Associations of Retarded Citizens. She served as the publicity chair person for the St. Mary Association from 1970 to 1975. Emma was also a member of the Alleman Center Parent Club and served as publicity chair person from 1990 to 2003. Mrs. Fruge is survived by her son Peter Fruge of Lafayette, LA, his wife Louann and their children Daniel and Caroline; son Glenn Fruge of San Antonio, TX, his wife Deborah and their sons Alex and Ross; daughter Donna Fruge Gibson of Lafayette, LA, her husband Lance Gibson and their daughter Rachel; daughter Laura Fruge of Lafayette, LA; son Robert Fruge of Lafayette, LA; and sister-in-law Sara Sis Ziegler of Crowley, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Louis Fruge; infant son, Paul Fruge; parents Leo and Bessie Amos Ziegler; brother, Hugo N. Wally Ziegler, and sisters Niobe Nochie Z. Brown and Norma Cookie Z. Leonards. Pallbearers will be sons Peter, Glenn, and Robert and grandsons Alex, Ross, and Daniel. Honorary pallbearers will be her son-in-law Lance and her godson Ricky Maraist.
