Vick H Dowdy

Jeanerette- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Vick H Dowdy, age 56, Thursday October 25, 2012 at 2:00PM at David Funeral Home Chapel- Jeanerette with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum. Visitation will begin Thursday October 25, 2012 at 9:00AM and will continue until service time.

A native of Orange Park, FL and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Vick passed away Monday October 22, 2012 at 8:10AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Mr. Dowdy was a dedicated employee who thoroughly enjoyed his 7 years with Proline Systems Incorporated. Vick was a self-taught mechanic at heart and found joy in taking things apart and putting them back together especially when it came to his watches. As a proud and passionate American he adored anything Red, White and Blue. Vicks hobbies included fishing, watching wrestling, trips to the casino, drinking root beer and celebrating birthdays in a special way by blowing his whistle.

He is survived by his sisters, Helen LeBlanc and husband Louis of Jeanerette and Terry Dowdy of New Iberia; his brother, Ned Dowdy of Jeanerette; nieces, Goldie Puthanperikal and husband Paul of Jeanerette; Sheila Derouen and husband and Kirby of New Iberia; Crystal and husband Peppe of Maurice; Kayla LeBlanc of Youngsville and Katrina Boutte of New Iberia; his great nieces and nephews, Joseph, Lacie, Jeremy, Taylor, Tanner, Delaney, Makayla and Monique.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Dowdy and Wilma Logston Dowdy Darby and his step-father, George Darby.

Serving as pallbearers will be Goldie, Louis, Paul, Joseph, Jeremy and Otis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ned, Terry and Lacie.
