Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Michael Joseph Hargrave, 64, on Saturday April 06, 2013 at 1:00PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, LA with Rev. Bill Melancon as the Celebrant. Visitation will be held on Friday April 05, 2013 at David Funeral Home of Erath from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a Recitation of The Holy Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00AM Saturday morning ending just prior to service. Entombment will follow the church service at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Mr. Hargrave was born in Abbeville, LA and grew up in the Cow Island area. As a young married man and father, he followed in the footsteps of his father and became a rice farmer. Michael and his family decided to leave the farming business and move to Erath where he became a crane operator for Marcon and Fluid Crane. Later he discovered his passion for trucking when he became part of Dynasty Truckings fleet of drivers. Determined to follow his dreams; he started his own trucking company. Mike Hargrave Trucking Company was something he was very proud. Here he would thrive until his decision to retire and move on to the final phase of his working life. Five years ago he became part of Team FSS which he enjoyed partly because he worked with his son in law, Michael Juan Nunez. He was able to continue doing what he loved, driving. As part of Team FSS he drove and made deliveries for Fire & Safety Specialist in Maurice, LA. Mike loved camping, enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid hunter. The things that brought him the most joy would be spending time with those most dear to him. He found happiness when surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. His pride and love for them was obvious. Michael will always be remembered, by those he touched, for his smile, his big heart, and his vast love for his family and GOD. Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Richard Hargrave of Erath, LA his four children, Tammy and her husband, Michael Juan Nunez, Rebecca Hargrave, Janlynn and her husband Scott Davis, his only son Michael Jason Hargrave and his wife Erika all of Erath, LA. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren. Jordan and Alyssa Nunez, Dustin LeMaire, Rylie Suire, Regin Hargrave, Kayden Hargrave, Caleb , Lily and Michael Davis, and Matthew and Elise Hargrave. His siblings include his sister, Sandra H. Hebert and her husband Marvin of Cow Island, two brothers, Ronnie Hargrave and his wife Margaret of Cow Island, LA, and Wayne Hargrave and his wife Kathy of Maurice, LA. His remaining survivors are his mother -in-law, Verda Richard of Erath, LA, sister-in-law Janel Delino and her husband Sammy of Henry, LA; brothers-in-law Reed Richard of Erath, LA, Jaimey Richard and his wife Holly of Nunez, LA as well as a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and his devoted puppy, Molly. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Lelia Breaux Hargrave; father-in-law Ulyess Richard, and one son-in-law Ryan Suire. Pallbearers will be Michael Jason Hargrave, Caleb Davis, Dustin LeMaire, Scott Davis, Michael Juan Nunez and Sammy Delino. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Hargrave, Wayne Hargrave, Reed Richard, Jaimey Richard, Bart Delino and Billy Davis.
