Lafayette " A Memorial Service for Mr. Rudy A. Borel, 82, will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at David Funeral Chapel of Lafayette with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. The family will begin gathering at 1:00PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette. Interment will follow at a later date. A native of Jeanerette and a resident of Lafayette Mr. Borel died at 7:15AM on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at his residence. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict and retired from Schlumberger after over 30 years of service. Mr. Rudy was known for his love for music. He played the fiddle, bass, and guitar in several bands which included Dixieland Jazz, Santy Runyon at Tobys, The Skyliners, The Rusty Mayne Band, and was proud to have played at the 1984 Worlds Fair with The Family Country Band. He was a member of The Cruisin Cajuns and Les Amis Cajuns camping clubs; and was a Ham radio operator. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joy Romero Borel of Lafayette; a daughter, Debi Jo McBride of Shreveport; and three grandchildren, Daniel Borel, Dana Keele, and Diana Keele. He was preceded in death by his parent, Joseph L. and Josephine Oliver Borel; a daughter, Donna Marie Borel; and a brother, Clyde G. Borel. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Romero, Tuttie Romero, Mosie Romero, Ronnie Romero, Kenneth Romero, and Clarence Trahan.
