A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 1:00PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Broussard for David Roy Gondron, 61, who passed away on December 29, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Rev. Arockiam Arockiam will officiate and entombment will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Visitation will be observed from 11am to 1pm at Sacred Heart and a rosary will be recited at 12:00 noon. Musical selections provided by Jodie Bollich, will include; Amazing Grace, Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Wind Beneath My Wings. David, a lifelong resident of Broussard, was born on January 29, 1951 to Lee Roy and Margaret Morvant Gondron. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a 1969 graduate of Comeaux High School and received an Industrial Arts degree from USL (ULL) in 1973. He taught for five years at LeBlanc Junior High School in Sulphur, LA before returning to Broussard, where he worked as a locksmith for Bonnets Key and Lock. In 1980 he began his career in USLs locksmith department and spent his final years there as USLs Safety Program Coordinator. He retired in 2005. David was an avid deer hunter, angler, gardener, and craftsman. He was devoted to a number of restoration projects, including his grandparents home, antique tractors, and a Frito Lay truck that he converted into a RV. He enjoyed his time spent with friends from the Lonesome Pine Hunting Club, and the Prairie Rhonde Club. He is survived by his sister Carolyn G. Langlinais and her husband Charles; his nephew David Langlinais; his niece Maggie Langlinais and her fianc Lucas Lee; his brother James Gondron and his wife Becky. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle Charles and Patsy Morvant, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and maternal grandparents, Laodice and Rosie Morvant and paternal grandparents Gaston and Florence Gondron. Pallbearers will be David Langlinais, Brennan Doucet, Chase, Grant and Gary Wolley, and Ronnie Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Morvant and members of the Lonesome Pine Hunting Club, and the Prairie Rhonde Club. Readers will be Patrice Doucet, and Julie Wooley. Gift bearers will be Maggie Langlinais and Lucas Lee. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be sent to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Davids family would like to thank Dr. Guidry and Dr. Caine for their care over the past year and a special thank you to the wonderful 9th floor nurses and CNAs at Lafayette General Medical Center.
