New Iberia " A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Lawrence S. Nookie Freyou, Age 76, at 10:00AM Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday October 9, 2012 from 12:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 8:00AM until service time. A native of Buena, Texas and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Freyou died Saturday October 6, 2012 at 11:30AM at his residence in New Iberia. Mr. Freyou was a sugarcane farmer. Lawrence was known to many of his friends and family as Nookie . He had a strong love for the earth and for many years grew his own vegetables and raised cattle to feed his family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would sing his little song, T-Maris to them as babies. Mr. Lawrence was also an avid Saints fan. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wanda Broussard Freyou; children, Clint Freyou and wife Donna, Darren Freyou and companion Bonnie and Brett Freyou and companion Dawn; one sister, Elsie Freyou Darcey; grandchildren, Corey Freyou and wife Ashley, Nicole Hunter and husband Rob, Dexter Freyou, Justin Freyou and companion Destiny, Haileigh Hildreth and husband Josh, Brice, Dylan and Dustin Freyou and Morgan, Magan and Mallory Migues; great grandchildren, Logan, Emily and Greyson Freyou, Asher Theall and Aidan and Teagan Hunter, all of New Iberia and his Godchild, Cindy Lanclos of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leodas L.L. Freyou and Alice Sedotal Freyou; brothers, Relius and L. J. Freyou and a grandson, Jarret James Freyou.
