Benjamin "Mickey" Rawlins, Jr.

Jeanerette- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Benjamin Mickey Rawlins, Jr., age 75, Thursday December 13, 2012 at 10:00AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. Helens Cemetery in Florence, LA.

Visitation will begin Wednesday December 12, 2012 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Thursday December 13, 2012 from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of Weeks Island and resident of Glencoe, Mr. Rawlins died Saturday December 8, 2012 at 8:38PM at Iberia Medical Center. Mickey was a retired St. Mary Parish School Board bus driver. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, trolling, mechanic work and loved listening to Cajun music.

Mr. Rawlins is survived by his children, Dianne Derouen and husband Daniel and Benjamin Rawlins III and wife Crystal, all of New Iberia; Betty Kapsos and husband Theodore of Jeanerette; Jeannie Deshotel of Lake Arthur; Jimmy Rawlins and wife Dawn, Darren Rawlins and Linda Derouen and husband Sherwood, all of Glencoe; Shirley Verret and husband Britt of Jeanerette; 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Davidson Rawlins and his parents, Benjamin Rawlins, Sr. and Beulah Verret Rawlins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Benny, Jimmy and Nicholas Rawlins, Theodore Teddy Kapsos, Jr., Britt BJ Verret, Jr. and Shawn Boudreaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Rawlins III, Theodore Ted Kapsos, Sr., Britt Verret, Sr. and James Fields, Jr..
