Abbeville- A Memorial for Earl Joseph Fritz(Frith), 90, will be held on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 2:00PM at David Funeral Home Chapel in Abbeville, LA with Toby Ryder, officiating. Entombment will follow services in Harrington Cemetery in Forked Island,LA . Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville beginning at 5:00PM on Monday February 25, 2013, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM, until 9:00PM and will resume on Tuesday at 9:00AM until just prior to service time. A native of Port Arthur, TX, and a resident of Abbeville, LA, Mr. Fritz passed away at 4:30 on Sunday February 24, 2013 at Eastridge Nursing Facility. Mr. Earl J. Fritz was the former Mayor of Abbeville, LA in the early 1960s. He helped to build a fire station on Joffer Street. He was responsible for improving the drainage and sewer system and also for paving approximately 50 miles of city streets. He was once the manager of the Singer Sewing Machine Co. for Vermilion Parish. He was the first manger of the Dept. of Revenue and Motor Vehicle Office in Vermilion Parish. He also owned Fritz Insurance Agency. He was a Naval WWII Combat Veteran, having served in the Pacific Islands and the Aleutian Islands; he severed two years in the CCC Camps in Louisiana. He also attended Port Arthur Business College. His grandfather was the first surgeon in Vermilion Parish. He is survived by seven children, Earl James Fritz and wife Lisa, Shawn William Fritz, Lisa Ann Fritz Toups and spouse Mickey, Baret Jude Fritz, and three sons in Florida, eight grandchildren, and one sister Ruby F. Migues. He was preceded in death by his mother; Anna Ardeaux Benton, father; Oscar Joseph Fritz(Frith), his paternal grandparents; Camella Miria Frith and Dr. Oscar J. Frith, sisters Opal F. Dartez and Anna Belle F. St. Julian, nephews; Clarence Mike Dartez, Jr. and Danny Patrick Dartez, and uncles Horotio Frith and Benjamin Miria, atty. Serving as pallbearers will be Lisa Fritz Toups, Earl James Fritz, Shawn Fritz, Baret Fritz, Mickey Toups and Allen Hanks. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews; Barton Migues, and Jody Migues. The family would like to thank IBC Hospice for the wonderful care they gave and all the support from the staff at Eastridge Nursing Facility. Donations in his name may be made to IBC Hospice P.O.
