New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Wilbert Joseph Spic LeBlanc, age 80 will be held on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Charles Langlois to serve as the celebrant. Readers will be Gail Smith and Jamie LeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Patrick LeBlanc, Patricia LeBlanc, Mickey LeBlanc, Molly LeBlanc, and Karen LeBlanc. Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday April 30, 2013 at 10:00am and conclude at 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning from 8:00am until service time with a Eulogy by Mr. Patrick J. LeBlanc at 10:00am.
A native of Patoutville and Resident of New Iberia, Mr. LeBlanc passed away on Thursday April 25, 2013 at 2:49pm at a local healthcare facility. Spic as he was affectionately known held many jobs throughout his lifetime including working for J and L in Jeanerette, working as a Mechanic and Sugarcane Cutter, and was able to travel the world teaching others how to operate sugarcane harvesting equipment. He also worked for the Iberia Parish Government as the Belle Place and Vida Shaw Bridge Operator before retiring after 23 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and National Guard.
Mr. LeBlancs hobbies included fishing, especially at his son, Troy LeBlancs pond. He was an avid Gardener and tended to his garden until April 22, 2013. He enjoyed sitting on his porch swing whether it be visiting with his family and friends, sharing good stories or laugh til you cry jokes over coffee, or just enjoying the day while chewing his favorite gum. Spic was and avid sports fan and enjoyed all sports, and loved to ride the lawnmower with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking, his specialties being, crab sauce picante, garfish balls, and cracklins. As a devote Catholic, he prayed the rosary and loved to teach his grandchildren of Gods Word. He was a man that enjoyed the simple life, loved his family, and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, an anniversary that was just celebrated on April 19, Hazel Landry Leblanc; seven children, Mickey LeBlanc of Loreauville, Molly LeBlanc and companion Michael Schneider of New Iberia, Patricia LeBlanc of Youngsville, Patrick LeBlanc and companion Bill Lege of Abbeville, Tony LeBlanc and fiance Charlotte Maturin of Loreauville, Troy LeBlanc and wife Jamie of New Iberia, Karen LeBlanc and companion Tracy Delahoussaye of Loreauville; extended family, Carolynn, Paula, Yetta, Teri, Shelly; daughters-in-law, Tina B. LeBlanc, Melissa Smith, son-in-law, Curtis Bonin; twenty grandchildren, Calvin Segura Jr. and wife Misty, Christy Segura and companion David Smith, Angela LeBlanc, Jamie LeBlanc and companion Jeremy Fremin, Courtney LeBlanc and companion Mark Dupree, Trey LeBlanc andFiancee Raven Dore, Kaylan LeBlanc, Kayleb Leblanc and companion Caylene Coco, Anestazia LeBlanc, Gabriel LeBlanc all of New Iberia, Mickey LeBlanc Jr., Demi LeBlanc, and Jessie LeBlanc all of Bayou Portage, Brody LeBlanc and companion Angelle Schaubert, Cody Smith and fiance Hayley Bergeron, Gail Smith and companion Therin Broussard, Amber LeBlanc all of Loreauville, Ashley LeBlanc and companion Sylvester Olivier of Lydia; nineteen great grandchildren, Bella Martel, Dawson Theroit, Kayla Malbrough and fianc Dakota Beniot, Drew, Paige, and Cayden Smith, Brayton and Braxton Hebert, Lynden LeBlanc, Brooksie and Payton Alleman, Braygen Richard, Aubree Dupre, Kyleigh Kinsey, Ayden Leblanc, Jordan Segura, Bentley LeBlanc, Colton LeBlanc, Kyzin Broussard, Lauren Delahoussaye; one sister, Vivian L. Smith of Elk City, OK; and two great great grandchildren, Haiden and Karsen Benoit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Tony and Eunice Fitch LeBlanc Giblin; adopted parents, Clesma and Louise Landry Louviere; brothers, Walter J. LeBlanc, Leroy LeBlanc; sisters, Iris L. Bergeron, Marion L. Wright, Annette L. Fredrick; infant daughters, Angela Theresa LeBlanc, Kristy Elizabeth LeBlanc, and one infant grandson Curtis J. LeBlanc.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony LeBlanc, Troy LeBlanc, Brody LeBlanc, Calvin Segura Jr., Cody Smith, and Willis Jacob.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brayton Hebert, Braxton Hebert, Jordan Segura, Gabriel LeBlanc, Tracy Delahoussaye, and Michael Schneider.
