Coteau- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph Edward Romero, 82, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, LA at 1:00PM on Friday May 03, 2013 with Rev. Barry Crochet as Celebrant . Entombment will follow the church service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Cemetery in Coteau. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 02, 2013 from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM and will resume Friday morning at 8:00AM until just prior to service time. Mr. Romero passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his children, in Coteau, LA.

Readers for the Mass will be granddaughters, Heather Hebert Comeaux and Ashley Boudreaux; Giftbearers will be granddaughters, Ceretha Duhon Gros and Kara Hebert. Vocals and accompaniment for the Mass will be provided by Karen Broussard.

A veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War receiving the Korean Svc Medal w /5 HRX SVC Stars, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the UN SVC Metal. After his military service he was employed by Pelican Creamery, retiring as a Branch Superviser. Following retirement he was a school bus driver for the Episcopal School of Acadiana.Mr. Romero also enjoyed playing his guitar, especially country music which he was a true fan of and enjoyed singing country music as well.

He is survived by his children, Wanda Romero Boudreaux and her husband Merlen of Youngsville, LA, Karen Romero Harrison and her husband, J.R. of League City, TX, Richard Romero and his wife, Jeanelle Landry Romero, John Romero and his wife, Christine Prince Romero, and Sharon Romero Boudreaux and her husband, Heath all of Coteau, LA.; grandchildren, D.J. Duhon, Jason Romero and his fiancee, Christine Touchet, Jacob Romero, Justin Romero and his wife, Joani, Christopher Romero, Tyler Romero, Alex Boudreaux, Heather Hebert Comeaux and her husband, Beau, Ceretha Duhon Gros, Kara Hebert and her fiance, Brian Lavin, Ashley Boudreaux,Daphne Boudreaux, Kim Mouton, Lance Romero, Sonia Kay, Jason Romero, Tiffany Lerette, Jonathan Graham, Gabriella Harrison and Andrew Harrison as well as twenty-eight Great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way .

He was preceded in death by his wife, Euphemie Theriot Romero; parents, Lucien and Fedora Romero Romero; brothers, Etienne Romero, Edwin Romero, Odley Romero and Elias Romero; sisters Ada Trahan, Eta Romero, Anne Belle Hebert, Adaise Poirrier and Lena Melancon.

Pallbearers will be D.J. Duhon, Jason Romero, Jacob Romero, Justin Romero, Christopher Romero, Tyler Romero and Alex Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Heather Hebert Comeaux, Ceretha Duhon Gros, Kara Hebert and Ashley Boudreaux.
