Lafayette -A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Ned Joseph Girouard, 84, at 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard. Father Louie Richard will officiate. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of the services on June 11, 2013. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Girouard died Saturday June 8, 2013. He was a native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Broussard. Mr. Girouard retired after 41 years serving as a Bridge Tender with Southern Pacific Railroad in Des Allemands, Harvey, Morgan City, Baldwin, and Delcambre. While living in Bayou Vista, he also worked part-time for St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He enjoyed working outdoors, playing practical jokes, relaxing with a cigar, fishing and the camp in Stephensville. Ned served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joycelyn Talbot Girouard of Broussard; his daughter Donna and her husband W.F. Billy Stanley Jr. of Morgan City La.; his grandson Craig and his wife Mandy Mayo Viator of Youngsville; his three beautiful great granddaughters Lily Grace, Ava Rhea and Ella Faye Viator. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, dear friends and extended family. Mr. Girouard was preceded in death by his parents Elie and Lucille Gautreaux Girouard; six brothers John, Dennis, Robert, Alvin "CoCo," Earless, and Allen Girouard; and five sisters Carmen Viator, Jeanette Bernard, Nola Girouard, Bernice Girouard and Gertrude Viator . Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Viator, William Billy Stanley, David Girouard, Mark Girouard, Larry Girouard and Carl Girouard. Mr. Girouards family wish to thank Hospice of Acadiana for their compassion and caring during the last 4 months of his life.
