New Iberia - A memorial service for Mr. Markle, 82, will be held on June 20, 2013 at David Funeral Home. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Mr. Markle was born on October 30, 1930 in St. Clair, MI, and passed away on June 17, 2013 at Iberia Medical Center.
A skilled woodworker, Mr. Markle built everything from the family's first home to a backyard workshop where he created treasured birdhouses of all shapes and sizes. He was also an avid gardner and square dancer after his retirement from a lifelong career with Diamond Crystal Salt/Akzo.
Mr. Markle is survived by his cherished wife of 62 years, Lee; daughters Charleen Bethart of Nashville, TN, Bonnie (Jack) Cain of Sagamore Hills, OH, and Pam Leydon of St. Augustine, FL; son Tim (Michelle) Markle of New Iberia; sister Mary (Bill) Rebh of Poughkeepsie, NY; brother Don (Pat) Markle of Pineville, NC; grandsons Benjamin (Dorothy) Cain of Patterson, NY and Philip (Sonja) Cain of Wallkill, NY; granddaughters Emily (Derek) Gum of Memphis, TN and Natalie Markle of New Iberia; sister-in-law Jean O'Dell of Casper, WY; brother-in-law Paul (Eileen) Courter of Sun City Center, FL and sister-in-law Terry (Charles) Langdon of Pontiac, MI.
Mr. Markle was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Frances Markle; brothers Ed Markle and Wilfred Markle; and sister Jean Gorte.
Mr. Markle donated his body to medical science.
